Our Dating advice: Tap your inner Nancy Drew

- Dating "Nancy Drew" style For all of our friends who are ready to give online dating a shot we have some advice: Tap into your inner Nancy Drew. In honor of our newest CW hit, were rounding up a few dating tips inspired by the girl who taught us how to face life with curiosity and class. “Nancy Drew” Wednesdays at 9pm on KBCW. (Premiering October 9th) -By Jackie Lopez
- Dress for Success1. The multi-talented Nancy could do everything from climbing secret staircases to tracking down outlaws at Shadow Ranch, and most of the time she did it in skirts and heels. If you love getting dressed to the nines for dates, then go for it! But remember to dress appropriately for the date you have planned. If the thought of staggering your way through the night in heels sounds less than appealing then it’s totally okay to wear a pair of flats. The goal is to wear something that makes you feel confident and expresses your unique style.
- Take Risks2. Our girl was never one to shield away from a little action. She was in a word, fearless. Don’t be afraid to try something new on a first date! It can be fun to throw in some adventure into the mix of good ole dinner dates. Consider going zip-lining or go-kart racing. You’ll be so focused on the thrill of it all that you won’t even have time for nerves. Nothing ventured nothing gained, are we right?
- Pick a guy who has your back3. Ned Nickerson is one of the sweetest characters we ever had the pleasure of reading about. He worries for Nancy when she is off artfully dodging danger, and often wishes she’d be more cautious. Yet he never holds her back, and even accompanies her on some cases to keep her safe himself. Swoon. Keep this in mind if your date has a hard time understanding why it is you won’t meet them in a sketchy part of town, then they need to get a clue. We recommend saying no to a second date. Support and consideration go a long way.
- Don't Panic4. First of all, don’t get stressed out! It’s totally normal to feel a little bit of anxiety before a first date, but try your best to relax and plan to have a great time. Keep telling yourself “no pressure!” If you are under pressure, then you can’t fully enjoy yourself. The worst that could happen is you don’t go on a second date, which actually wouldn’t be that big of a deal.
- Follow Your Instincts5. Let’s be real, online dating can be completely shallow considering it’s first based on photos and initial impressions. The world of endless dating apps can also be full of questionable people who give us, for lack of a better phrase, the heebie-jeebies. Nancy doesn’t always trust the super friendly, perfect, too good to be true individuals. They usually all end up being villains. Coincidence? We think not! When you’re on a date, don’t allow yourself to be looking through rose-colored glasses. Pay attention to what they’re saying and doing, and follow your instincts. They’re usually right.
- Be True to Yourself6. What we love most about Nancy is she is unapologetically herself! The want to be flawless is superfluous. Don’t hide those quirks because the true Ned Nickerson of your life will find them adorable!
- Our fan favorite Best Rogelio Moments from Jane the VirginIt’s sad to say farewell to the cast of characters on Jane the Virgin, but the one we’ll miss the most is Rogelio De La Vega. For five years his narcissistic one-liners made us laugh, but it was his big heart that moved us to tears. So as official #Rogelifans we’re counting down the five most pivotal, most emotional and most Rogelian moments. By Jacqueline Lopez
