The “Legends of Tomorrow” star was alerted to an Internet meme from several years ago that resurfaced this week, poking fun at his apparent weight gain between his time on “Prison Break” and 2010.

Facebook humor page The LAD Bible repurposed the meme, featuring side-by-side photos of Miller along with the caption, “When you break out of prison and find out about McDonald’s Monopoly … “

Miller, no stranger to the meme, was quick to respond, putting the two images into sobering, frank contrast.

“Today I found myself the subject of an Internet meme. Not for the first time. This one, however, stands out from the rest,” Miller wrote on his Facebook page. “In 2010, semi-retired from acting, I was keeping a low-profile for a number of reasons. First and foremost, I was suicidal.”

Miller went on to discuss how, during his lowest point, he’d used food as a source of comfort and had inevitably put on some weight. The initial publishing of the paparazzi photos and resulting meme were hard to take, he admitted.

“The first time I saw this meme pop up in my social media feed, I have to admit, it hurt to breathe,” he writes. “But as with everything in life, I get to assign meaning. And the meaning I assign to this/my image is Strength. Healing. Forgiveness.”
