Scott Eastwood, son of Clint, was rumored to take on the roll. But instead, Eastwood signed-on for a guaranteed role in the upcoming “Suicide Squad” movie. Warner Bros then decided to then go with a bigger name and make an offer right away in order to secure the role. Pine won out after a meeting with Gadot and the film’s producers.

Gadot is set to debut as Wonder Woman in the highly anticipated “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” scheduled for release on March 25, 2016. For now, Pine is finishing up production on a thriller and jumping right back into the Captain’s chair as James T. Kirk in the third Star Trek film.
