SAN RAFAEL (CBS SF) – There was no celebration for George Lucas on the unofficial holiday celebrating his blockbuster movie franchise. The San Anselmo resident apparently spent May the 4th – the day adopted by fans as a play on words from the iconic Jedi phrase “may the force be with you” – at the Marin Civic Center waiting for his name to be called for jury service.

While many of the original cast members were tweeting out Star Wars messages, Lucas was spotted sitting in the jury pool room quietly reading the paper.

A friend of KPIX 5’s Allen Martin confirms that Lucas was called for a jury panel, but he was apparently not the juror they were looking for, because he was spotted a day later at a memorial service for tech executive Dave Goldberg.

On the plus side, at least Lucas spent the day at a building that looks like a Star Wars set.
