(KBCW) – Actor Chris Pine is in negotiations to co-star in DC’s upcoming “Wonder Woman” movie lead by current “Batman vs. Superman” star Gal Gadot, according to Variety.
The “Star Trek” actor would play Diana’s (Wonder Woman) love interest, Steve Trevor, a U.S. Intelligence Officer in World War II that, according to the comics, crash lands on Paradise Island and is nursed back to health by Diana. In the 1970’s classic television show, “Wonder Woman” starring Lynda Carter, the role of Steve Trevor was played by actor Lyle Waggoner.
Scott Eastwood, son of Clint, was rumored to take on the roll. But instead, Eastwood signed-on for a guaranteed role in the upcoming “Suicide Squad” movie. Warner Bros then decided to then go with a bigger name and make an offer right away in order to secure the role. Pine won out after a meeting with Gadot and the film’s producers.
Gadot is set to debut as Wonder Woman in the highly anticipated “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” scheduled for release on March 25, 2016. For now, Pine is finishing up production on a thriller and jumping right back into the Captain’s chair as James T. Kirk in the third Star Trek film.
“Wonder Woman” is scheduled for release on June 23rd, 2017.
