Happy Friday Bay Area!
This week was a busy, sad, and a little bit crazy.
Here are the week’s biggest stories, from The Jacka to Ashley Graham and more.
The Jacka, a Bay Area rapper who made his mark as a highly skilled and very self-aware artist who often wrote about living life on harsh streets died this week of a gunshot wound. Both the local community and the music world is mourning him.
Ashley Graham, regarded as the first plus-size model to grace the pages of the iconic Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue may or may not be alone in that honor, but her presence nevertheless ushers in a new era of anti-body shaming in print magazines.
The measles are spreading quick, mostly among children in elementary schools. Following a string of cases stemming from Disneyland visitors, more and more sick kids are popping up here in our own backyard, from Marin to Alameda.
CBS will air the Grammys this Sunday, February 8 at 5pm and we could not be more excited about both the event as a whole, and about whatever Pharrell will be wearing on his head this year. What we can’t agree on, however, is who is going to take home the night’s big prizes!
