San Francisco Animal Care & Control is dropping dog-adoption fees by half beginning Saturday and continuing till Friday, Sept. 5.

If you’re more of a cat person, head over to Burlingame. Sunday is the last day of the Peninsula Humane Society’s Black Cat Appreciation program.

There will be a brand new library coming soon to San Jose. A groundbreaking ceremony for the city’s 16,000 sq. ft. Southeast Branch library gets underway around 10 a.m. Saturday at Evergreen Village Square.

Like a little sriracha with your electronica? Head over to San Jose’s Saint James Park for the first annual Electronic Sriracha Festival. The music and hot sauce start mixing around noon.

And, because San Jose is apparently going sriracha-crazy this weekend, on Sunday you can see a screening of a documentary film called, you-guessed-it, “Sriracha” at the Camera 12 Cinemas. Shows start at 2.

On Sunday, The Oakland Pride Parade & Festival gets going at 10:30 a.m. at Broadway and 14th Street. Bay Area singer Sheila E is headlining.
