Bart falls in love with the girl who moves in next door, only to find that she prefers the school bully.
After seeing a commercial for “all-you-can-eat” seafood at “The Frying Dutchman,” Homer becomes ecstatic. Meanwhile, Bart meets Laura Powers, his young and beautiful new neighbor, and he falls madly in love. Laura and Bart hit it off and become the best of friends. Bart’s attitude changes. He becomes more conscious of the way he looks and smells and dresses to impress. Homer asks Laura to baby-sit so he and Marge can go to “The Frying Dutchman.” After Homer almost eats the restaurant out of food, The Captain has him thrown out.
Outraged that he was booted out of the restaurant even though he could have eaten more, Homer decides to sue for false advertising. He contacts Attorney Lionel Hutz, who happily takes on the case. Bart thinks his dreams have come true when Laura shows up at his window wearing a pretty dress and asks him to meet her in the tree house. But Laura tells Bart she has a crush on Jimbo Jones, the school tough-guy.
Bart is devastated. When Laura invites Jimbo over while she is baby-sitting for Homer and Marge, Bart becomes jealous as Jimbo and Laura kiss on the couch. Homer’s case goes to trial. Fortunately for Homer, the jurors are all fat. The Captain agrees to an out-of-court settlement, and places Homer in the front window of his restaurant as “Bottomless Pete—Nature’s Cruelest Mistake.” Bart gets an idea how to get rid of Jimbo. He calls a prank on Moe and then tells Moe his name is Jimbo Jones. Bart then gives him his address. Moe rushes to Bart’s house. Moe threatens Jimbo with a knife. Jimbo breaks down in a panic and sobs for his life. Moe feels bad and leaves. After seeing Jimbo is not so tough, Laura breaks up with him. Laura gives Bart a kiss and laments that he is not just a little older. After getting the kiss, Bart and Laura play another crank phone call on Moe.
