Style Files: Kanye West Designed A Menswear Collection For A.P.C.
Kanye West debuted his own fashion line in 2012, to mixed reviews, but he’s dipping a toe into the collaborative fashion waters with a newly revealed menswear capsule collection for Paris ready-to-wear house A.P.C.
The collaboration was announced via West’s website, which featured a takeover graphic of the tag in a pair of jeans pairing his name with the A.P.C. brand. The fashion house’s site features a similar graphic with the promise that the line will be revealed on July 14 at 10 a.m. EST.
West gave some hints about the line in a recent interview with W Magazine, to whom he revealed he’d created a “men’s capsule collection of jeans, T-shirts, and hoodies.”
For the line, West partnered with A.P.C. creator and designer Jean Touitou, who started the collection in 1987 as a reaction to the over the top fashion he saw at the time and has given it a consistent minimalist air, bordering on military style. It’s the aesthetic that West seems to be artistically obsessed with in all areas lately, making the duo well-matched.
