The Daily Mail UK originally reported the speculation of Katie Cassidy being looked at to play the film role of Anastasia Steele from the wildly popular “50 Shades Of Grey” book series.

Cassidy is the daughter of 70′s pop singer David Cassidy and has recently starred in The CW shows “Gossip Girl” and “Melrose Place”.

Other actresses who are on the short list to play Anastasia are Emma Watson, Emma Stone and Lucy Hale. Actors who have been brought up to play Christian Grey include Ryan Gosling, Zac Efron, Alex Pettyfer, Channing Tatum and “The Vampire Diaries” actor Ian Somerhalder.

Cassidy is also set to play Laurel Lance in The CW’s upcoming comic book action series “Arrow“.
